Mr. Courtney represents the third generation of Case Institute of Technology graduates to head the company that bears his grandfather’s name.
He is the fourth president of a company that is currently in its second century of providing public improvement, subdivision, site development and land surveying services to the municipalities, private developers and residents of the Greater Cleveland Area.
In representing four different suburban communities he applies engineering expertise, blended with common sense, to solve an assortment of daily problems ranging from million dollar capital improvements to quarreling neighbors.
Mr. Courtney is thankful for the many friendships developed during his forty years of public service.

Mr. Courtney is a Principal of the firm, holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron, and is a Registered Professional Engineer and Surveyor in the State of Ohio. Chris is also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and a Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ). Additionally, he teaches and attends numerous seminars on a variety of professionally relevant topics.

Mr. Courtney is the great-grandson of the company founder, and the eldest son of the current company President. He has been actively employed by the C.W. Courtney Company since the age of sixteen, when he began as a rod man. Mr. Courtney has had the benefit of performing the duties associated with every position within the Surveying and Engineering Departments of the company and relies heavily upon that experience during the day-to-day management of projects and personnel.
Mr. Courtney is the current president and an active member of the Municipal Engineers Association of Northeast Ohio (MEANEO), an organization primarily comprised of consulting municipal civil engineers, manufacturers, and suppliers operating within the northern Ohio area.

Mr. Courtney is a Principal of the firm, holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron and is a State of Ohio Registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Courtney’s continuing education focuses on the field of Civil/Municipal engineering and advances in the technology of pavement, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, storm water management as well as other related topics.

Being the great-grandson of the company founder and youngest son of the company’s current president, he has been actively employed by the C.W. Courtney Company since 1985. Beginning as a rod man on a field survey crew, he has had the benefit of performing the duties associated with every position in the Surveying and Engineering Departments within the company and relies heavily upon that experience while performing the day to day management of projects and personnel.
Douglas is a past President of the Municipal Engineers Association of Northeast Ohio (MEANEO), an organization primarily comprised of consulting municipal civil engineers, manufacturers, and suppliers operating within the northern Ohio area. The purpose of the organization is to promote uniformity of municipal ordinances and regulations related to design and construction, Promote coordination between engineering representatives in various municipalities, and promote the professional status and public image of the Municipal Engineer in Northeast Ohio. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
